Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 5, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Lumen AI ("Lumen AI", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information about visitors to this website. We publish independent editorial coverage of AI tools, and we limit data collection to what we genuinely need to run the site, keep it secure, and understand which articles are useful to readers.

Who we are

Lumen AI is an independent online publication covering AI writing tools, image and design tools, video tools, coding assistants, productivity and automation software, and tool reviews. For the purposes of data-protection law such as the EU/UK GDPR, Lumen AI is the data controller for personal information collected through this website. You can reach us at privacy@lumen-ai.example.

Information we collect

We collect three broad kinds of information:

  • Information you give us. If you email us or submit a form on our contact page, we receive the name, email address, and message content you choose to provide, plus anything else you include.
  • Information collected automatically. Like nearly every website, our servers and infrastructure providers record standard log data: IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, referring URL, pages requested, and the date and time of each request.
  • Information from cookies and similar technologies. Cookies, local storage, and pixels set by us and by third parties such as Google measure usage and support advertising. See Cookies and similar technologies.

You do not need an account to read Lumen AI, and we do not ask for sensitive categories of personal data (such as health, biometric, or financial account details).

How we use information

  • To deliver, maintain, and secure the website and its content.
  • To detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, spam, fraud, and technical faults.
  • To understand which articles and categories readers find valuable.
  • To respond to your questions, corrections, tips, and press enquiries.
  • To display advertising, including interest-based advertising via Google AdSense.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not attempt to identify individual readers from analytics data.

Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: legitimate interests (running a secure website, basic analytics, responding to your messages); consent (non-essential cookies and personalised advertising, where consent is required — you may withdraw it at any time); and legal obligation (for example, retaining records where the law requires it).

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies on Lumen AI fall into these groups:

  • Strictly necessary. Needed for the site to load, remain secure, and remember basic preferences such as display settings. These cannot be switched off.
  • Analytics. Google Analytics 4 cookies that help us count visits and see which articles are read.
  • Advertising. Cookies set by Google and its advertising partners to serve and measure ads, and to limit how often you see the same ad.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking analytics or advertising cookies will not stop you reading articles, but ads you see may become less relevant. Where required by law, we ask for consent before setting non-essential cookies.

Advertising and Google AdSense

Lumen AI participates in Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ad Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies at aboutads.info and Your Online Choices. For details on how Google handles data in its advertising products, see Google's advertising policies.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate traffic — page views, referral sources, rough geography, and device type. Analytics data is used in aggregate to improve our editorial coverage. We do not combine analytics data with any information that identifies you personally. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data with Google's browser opt-out add-on.

Affiliate links

Some articles contain affiliate links to AI tools. If you click one and subscribe or buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you, and the merchant may set its own cookies to attribute the referral. Affiliate relationships never determine which tools we cover or how we rate them — see our Disclaimer.

How we share information

We share personal information only in these situations:

  • Service providers. Hosting, content delivery, email, analytics, and advertising partners who process data on our behalf or as independent controllers (for example Google, for Analytics and AdSense).
  • Legal reasons. Where we must comply with applicable law, legal process, or an enforceable governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Lumen AI, our readers, or the public.
  • Business transfers. If Lumen AI is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Data retention

Server logs are typically retained for a short operational period (usually no more than 90 days) unless needed longer for security investigations. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics configuration. Correspondence you send us is kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any follow-up.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and we rely on reputable infrastructure providers with industry-standard safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the limited data we hold.

International transfers

Our providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where personal data is transferred out of the EEA or UK, our providers rely on recognised transfer mechanisms such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of your personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; to withdraw consent; and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. California residents may additionally request disclosure of the categories of personal information collected and may opt out of "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising — we do not sell personal information.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@lumen-ai.example with enough detail for us to locate your information. We respond within the timeframe required by applicable law and will never discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

Children's privacy

Lumen AI is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Third-party sites

Articles link to vendor documentation, research papers, and news sources. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not apply to them. Review their policies before providing personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site, our providers, or the law changes. The "last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes will be highlighted at the top of this page.
