AI interior design apps have made this trivially easy, and for the specific job of "help me visualize style direction before I commit," they're genuinely useful. Where people get burned is treating the output as a renovation plan rather than a mood board.

What's actually happening technically

These apps use image-to-image diffusion: your photo provides a structural skeleton (rough room shape, window and door positions, sometimes furniture silhouettes), and the model regenerates surfaces, furniture, and decor according to a style prompt while trying to preserve that skeleton.
